Budding developers and AI enthusiasts, rejoice! In a groundbreaking move, OpenAI has rolled out the GPT Store, an innovative platform housing a variety of GPTs, the brainchild of both OpenAI partners and the broader developer community. Introducing the GPT Store – a veritable treasure trove of premade apps powered by OpenAI’s cutting-edge language and image models.

This new addition, nestled conveniently in a tab within the ChatGPT client, introduces a fascinating array of GPTs spanning categories like lifestyle, writing, research, programming, and education. To explore this treasure trove of AI ingenuity, users must be subscribed to one of OpenAI’s premium ChatGPT plans – ChatGPT Plus, ChatGPT Enterprise, or the recently unveiled ChatGPT Team.

A community leaderboard showcases popular and trending GPTs, allowing users to delve into this repository of creativity. Launching with an enticing selection of GPTs, including a trail recommender from AllTrails, a code tutor from Khan Academy, and a content designer from Canva, OpenAI emphasizes free access to these gems, at least for the moment.

What makes this venture particularly enticing is the simplicity it offers to developers. Building GPTs no longer demands coding expertise; developers can articulate their desired capabilities in plain language using OpenAI’s GPT Builder tool.

Looking forward, OpenAI plans to introduce a “GPT builder revenue program” in Quarter 1 (Up to March), in the U.S. Builders can earn income based on user engagement with their GPTs. Although the launch doesn’t allow devs to charge for their creations, this revenue program signals a potential shift in the landscape of AI app creation.

So, as the GPT Store bursts onto the scene, democratizing the creation of generative AI apps, the question remains: Will it redefine the game or play the final note for certain consultancies? Only time will unveil this AI overture’s grand finale.
